Higher Education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network (ProSPER.Net) is an alliance of leading universities in the Asia-Pacific region that are committed to integrating sustainable development into postgraduate courses and curricula. The network is developing a new generation of leaders who can best tackle global sustainability challenges in the face of rapid environmental degradation. ProSPER.Net was founded in June 2008 within the framework of a broader international agenda that recognizes the importance of education and research to help build a more sustainable future. There are currently 34 members, spread throughout Asia-Pacific, that have strong education and research programmes dedicated to sustainable development and related fields.
In this forum, researchers, experts, and students from different countries and disciplines will discuss sustainable development challenges, and offer insights into how teaching and research in higher education can help address these challenges. The panel will be asked to offer insight into pressing issues, how higher education can serve as a vehicle for change in sustainable development, and how cross-institutional teaching and research can be synergized to advance the 2030 Development Agenda in the region.
